What does affordable therapy look like?

Frequently Asked Questions

Intern-qualifying registered psychotherapists are individuals who have completed their formal education in psychotherapy and are gaining practical experience under the supervision of fully qualified therapists. They provide professional therapy services as part of their training, offering a great balance of care at a more affordable price.

They are constantly training and learning new ways to support you. If you are interested in a specific modality or type of therapy, let us know in the box below, and we’ll try to connect you with the closest intern that matches you! For the most part, they offer the same therapy modalities that most of our other therapists do. Some therapies that are more advanced (like EMDR) are typically restricted until they have more experience.

Sessions (regardless of type!) are set at $65 (no tax) per 50-minutes. That means couples, families, and other types of therapies are the same price as individual. Extended sessions are available for $97.50 (75-minutes in length).

Yes! Our intern-qualifying psychotherapists are highly trained and provide professional, effective care under the guidance of experienced supervisors. We are committed to ensuring you receive the same level of care and attention as you would in higher-priced therapy, at a fraction of the cost.

Once your therapist completes their internship and becomes fully qualified, you can choose to continue working with them, provided they are available. If not, we can help match you with another qualified therapist who meets your needs.

Yes, the cost may gradually change when your therapist transitions to a fully qualified role. However, we will provide you with at least 60 days advance notice of any price adjustments, and we can discuss different options to ensure continued access to affordable care.

The short answer is: Maybe! Just like our RPs (and Qualifying), RSWs, etc., it is important to ask your insurance what coverage they offer. Our interns are fully registered with their governing body, and their supervisor is listed on their receipt. We have not had an instance where insurance did not accept intern therapists yet, but it’s always safe to double check!
